UPDATE:

January 2nd, 2022:

In the last month we have been pushing the self-match aspect and trying for a private match. Adoption agencies are seeing less and less expectant moms with the ever changing COVID regulations. So we are praying for them and the resources available to them! Also praying however God has the planned out we follow our call.

October 12th, 2021:

As we close in on the first full year of waiting there are have been a rollercoaster of emotions. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to wait and show up for these expectant moms we are seeing!

August 9th, 2021: 

Nothing new over here. We have now been looked at by 8 expectant moms who have ultimately chosen other families to raise their babies. Still here, still waiting. Getting everything ready to update our homestudy as our 1 year active is just a few months away.

May 5th, 2021:

Sorry for those who are checking back for updates to see none. The reality is there isn't any... We were able to present or show our family profile to 3 expectant moms in April. Which is exciting for sure but a bummer to get told she chose another family. So things are picking up more as far as cases we are seeing. This makes us hopeful our time will be coming!

March 1st, 2021:

We got a call at the end of last week that we were awarded another adoption grant (the last one we could receive without being matched with an agency)! So many blessings along the way on this journey :) Hard to not feel like we are on the right path when these blessing continue to come!

February 11th, 2021:

I haven't posted any updates recently because, well, there is really nothing to update. We are still in the thick of waiting which can get to us at times. There hasn't been a whole lot of cases the last few months, which means there haven't been a whole lot of opportunity. Please keep us in your thoughts & prayers as we try to remain patient with God's timing.

December 27th, 2020:

It has been quite the month. We feel like God is moving in this waiting period (in big ways & small ways all the same). It may be naive of us, but it feels like something BIG is just beyond the New Year! We shall see.... As some of you may have seen we were the recipients of a very generous donation from Prairie Heights Community Church as part of their "Thrill of Hope" series. We also were given a $4,000 interest-free loan through one of our grant applications. Combine that with a great month of fundraising/donations & we are so close to reaching our 1st goal, which will get us set for a match (most cases we have seen need $12K-15K due at the time of match). We are hopeful, trusting & ready for whenever our expectant mama comes along.

November 30th, 2020:

We had such an eventful weekend & day today with blessings that just continue to surprise us. We were picked on Friday for our first grant!!! Like what? Us? SO amazing. We also had an appraisal to be eligible for a Home Equity Line of Credit. This is a popular way to make larger payments once we are chosen, that we were encouraged to move forward with. That appraisal came back in our benefit and we now qualify! Those exciting pieces along with a few other that will come to light soon.... help keep us hopeful that God is moving mountains for us. This has been our prayer all along, "keep providing a way or slam the door & make it obvious it's not the right time." He keep providing so we're still moving forward. It feels closer and closer by the day!

November 6th, 2020: 

We're still here & waiting. We have been sent a handful of momma's but have not yet presented or moved forward on them. The fees can be wild and we are still trying to get our bearings. We are needing to get roughly $5,000 more before we can present comfortably. We are applying for grants and getting our options for loans in order but praying for some financial miracles to get us there!

October 21st, 2020:

WE ARE HOMESTUDY APPROVED!!! I opened this e-mail today knowing full well that it was coming any day. And I still felt so emotional as tears filled my eyes! It feels so crazy that we started with our first call in April and now in October we can finally start the real wait. So surreal...

September 23rd, 2020:

Sent in our contract for Mustard Seed Adoption Consultants! We are now locked in!!

Just awaiting our typed home study to be sent to us..... Waiting is hard.

September 10th, 2020:

Our last interview day with our social worker for the homestudy! Now we wait for it to be typed and complete for her to send to our Consultant. (That should be early October) Once it makes it there, we can be ACTIVE and then the real hard wait begins. Praying so hard over our expectant momma & who she might be as I sit and wonder if she is just finding out about a pregnancy or is just starting to contemplate adoption. Maybe she's not pregnant yet but will be in the coming weeks/months & I pray her support system is strong during that time!

August 19th, 2020:

We FINALLY had our first in home "homestudy" after having to reschedule. We got into some deep questions about our marriage, our relationship with our families and our childhoods. Lots of information shared for our social worker to be able to type up our report. We will have one last- hopefully less intense- meeting on September 10th. We are practicing our waiting game for when we are finally active and waiting for a match :)

July 21st, 2020:

We completed our first of multiple interviews for our home study with Catholic Charities of ND.

July 7th, 2020:

We finally completed all of the extensive paperwork, trainings, and background checks & got the green light to schedule our first (of a couple) interviews to finish our homestudy.  

 

June 19th, 2020:

We had our last photoshoot with Jennifer Peters Photography & are amazed at how she was able to capture our family in still shots.

May 31st, 2020: 

We had our first lifestyle photoshoot with Jennifer Peters Photography. These pictures will be used for our profile book that expectant mothers will look at to decide if we are the right family to raise & love her baby! Which makes these SO IMPORTANT!!

May 18th, 2020:

We have started our Home Study. This process takes roughly 3 months, and is an in depth interview of your family, finances, relationship, and community. This ensures we are ready and a good candidate for adoption.
